Samantha “Doom” Donen is an Industrial Designer from Denver, Colorado. Donen was dubbed “Doom” for being an empowering female lead on bass guitar in the Denver music scene. Donen graduated from MSU Denver with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design.

Her professional ID career began as master artist (of mannequins) for Nike, NBA, Old Navy, Under Armor, Target, and Michael Kors at NOA Fusion Brands. She won design awards as DPM and ID for Greenway Foundations and Denver Botanic Gardens. Her ID journey flourished as Design Project Manager and Industrial Soft Goods Designer at WAG Harness, IFuzion, and Angel Armor.

She successfully developed a new category of soft goods design at Gembah as the Director of Design of Soft Goods & Apparel. This led to an opportunity to start her own design consultancy in 2024, Donen Designs, and currently works with new and existing brands designing & developing their soft goods product lines.

Donen’s early career started in concert and event design. She has excelled as Lighting Director and Designer at The Gothic Theatre, The Vilar Center for the Performing Arts, Olympics, and Touring Productions alike. Alas, she shined as Public Events Design Coordinator for SOCO Nightlife.

In her spare time, Donen volunteers as a Design Leader at IDSA and a Design Mentor for students at Gold Crown Foundations, IDSA, Project Invent, and MSU Denver ID Department. She has also volunteered designing soft goods for Make4covid.co.

Mentoring and volunteering led to teaching Design Thinking at MSU Denver for 3000 level students getting ready to graduate and start their careers. She is currently an Adjunct Design Professor at MSU Denver.
